Why You Should be Hyped for 'Dawnfall'

'Dawnfall' by RoAnna Sylver is the kind of fiction I'd love to see more of. I had the opportunity to read the first 4 chapters (and you can do the same!) before its official release. It is technically a game, but I like to think of it as a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure novel. In Dawnfall you can be whoever, or whatever, you choose, and I found that--as well as the immersive worldbuilding--to be its greatest strength. I may have only read the first four chapters at the time of writing this, but I can confidently say that book nerds and fans of story-based games alike are sure to enjoy the Dawnfall experience.

The type of storytelling used in this game does so much more than tell a story. It makes you part of the world, part of the adventure. I could practically see the intergalactic spectacle that is part of daily life for the main characters, which is of course due to the masterful descriptive writing. This isn't RoAnna Sylver's first writing rodeo, and it shows.

If you're like me, then you're probably thinking "This all sounds cool, but Dawnfall is a romance game. What if I'm not interested in romance?" Well, I've got news for you! Conventional romance is entirely optional! At one point I chose that platonic relationships were more important to me, just as I chose my name or gender, and that was that. If you're worried about the price of this amazing game, worry no longer because it's 100% FREE! So what are you waiting for? There are zero excuses to check out the full game once it's out tomorrow. All the information is below!

SYNOPSIS/BLURB: Find true love and family with a pirate crew at the ends of the universe, where aliens, ghosts, and portals open the space between worlds...and your heart. You are a Navigator, one who creates and guards portals from one dimension to another, wary of the liminal sea between them. Your universe is made of two worlds: one contains the magic-infused world of Zephyria, and the other, the dystopian space station Eclipse. The worlds are balanced, until one day, an explosive disaster, a deadly energy storm, and an infamous pirate—the Ghost Queen—upend your life and plunge you into a race to save both worlds. Dawnfall is a 235,000-word interactive romance novel by RoAnna Sylver, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. So what happens when you find there’s not just two dimensions to save, but three? Is saving two worlds worth sacrificing one? Will you find love with the crew of the Dawnfall, or will you bring these pirates to justice? Are connections between universes, people, and lives meant to be forged and protected, or severed for the greater good?

Navigate your heart’s own course, and hope you can weather the storms.
